Each breviary cover is slightly different from the others due to the tanning processes, which, being vegetable-based and not synthetic, differ slightly at the end of their processing. For this reason, small imperfections in the leather should not be seen as defects, but as a sign of the product's authenticity.
For the closing system of our breviary covers, we chose the "long lace" solution, which, by wrapping around the entire object, gives it an antique, timeless style. This system dates back to the time of scribes who used it to hold together less important manuscripts that were not bound in the classic and more expensive way, i.e., by sewing and gluing the various pages (almost always parchment) together to create the manuscript as we know it today.
Genuine calf leather is a natural material obtained from the skin of young cattle (calves), selected for its high quality, fine grain, and softness to the touch. It differs from other leathers due to its compact yet flexible structure, which makes it particularly suitable for prestigious craftsmanship, such as leather goods, bookbinding, footwear, or religious accessories.
When hand-tanned and without synthetic treatments, calf leather retains all its authentic beauty, making it ideal for high-end products and low environmental impact.
